ABOUT ABOUT

Ride in the pig and roll out the barrel!  It’s Swine and Stein time,  Gardiner’s own version of a traditional Oktoberfest celebration.  The 3nd annual event on  features a trifecta of delicious Maine craft beers, mouthwatering pork dishes, and live music from a and eclectic collection of Maine bands.

On Saturday, October 13th, 2012, the main street (Water St) of Gardiner will be closed for games, food, and fun!  The fun lasts from 11:30am until 6:30pm.  Pork dishes from a number of popular restaurants and street vendors from across the state will be served.    This exciting culinary experience will be sure to satisfy everyone’s taste buds!

The beer tent will provide an opportunity for novice and experienced local beer enthusiasts to sample some of Maine’s best brews.  Fall in love with one of the many craft beers offered  from Allagash, Baxter Brewing Sebago, Shipyard, Sheepscot Valley, Geary’s, Gritty McDuff’s, and more while you listen to local music.  Admission includes all-day entertainment and three 5 oz. taster vouchers.  Additional tastings and full size beers will be available for purchase.

And then comes the fun!  In addition to the food and drink, there will be a number of ongoing activities, including a chicken fling (yes, we know it’s not a pig, but have you ever tried to throw a rubber pig??!?), frozen T-Shirt contest, stick pony races, and other challenges to provide an oinking good time up and down Water Street.  A mix of favorite and emerging Maine bands will perform throughout the day.   This is a great opportunity to take in some of the best that Maine culture has to offer.  And while you’re having your fun on a great Maine fall day, purchase a t-shirt or commemorative pint glass to remember the event!
